About Us

Smith's Corporate Advisory works directly for corporate clients:

  • To investigate why investors do and don't buy their shares;
  • To enlarge a company's universe of investors in order to increase demand for its shares;
  • To place shares with new investors in primary issues and secondary placements.

Smith's advice is supported by in depth analysis of the relevant data. Where a company is not adequately covered by published research Smith's can write company commissioned research.

Smith's advises clients on corporate finance matters and acts for clients in M&A transactions.

Smith's is independent of investors, being retained and remunerated by its corporate clients.

Smith's was founded in 1999 by Johnny Martin Smith, who had been running the equity sales desk for South African shares at UBS. Smith's initial work was for natural resource and South African companies seeking to widen their range of investors. Whilst this remains a core activity, Smith's now works for clients across all industrial sectors, based in the UK and overseas.

Smith's brings together a range of skills with a team made up of practitioners from Asset Management, Corporate Broking, Corporate Finance, Investor Relations as well as Equity Sales, who can collectively offer a unique perspective on the structure of a company's ownership.

Smith's has positioned itself across the traditional disciplines of Corporate Broking, Investor Relations and Corporate Finance without the encumbrance of sellside research, a trading desk or a back office in order to offer a service to companies who wish to enlarge their shareholder base and take a proactive approach towards the composition of their share register.
